Placed in the center of a neighborhood cul-de-sac, this community center intends to serve as a model for community resilience shelters around the United States. The structure factors in practical features, such as FEMA storm shelter requirements, as well as community factors, like a neighborhood garden and workshop. The project focuses on matching the surrounding neighborhood vernacular, houses primarily built in the 1950s and 1960s, while still being large enough to incorporate all of the required programmatic elements to truly inspire a local sense of community, engagement, and security.
